Colchester United v Exeter City – Jobserve Community Stadium – Sky Bet League Two – Sunday 3pm

Colchester United v Exeter City – Preview:

BACK-TO-BACK Sky Bet League Two victories have carried Colchester United back into contention for automatic promotion and Ray Crawford has urged for more of the same from John McGreal’s side as they finish the decade with a visit from high-flyers, Exeter City.

The U’s impressively saw off both Carlisle United and Leyton Orient – proving there was no Carabao Cup hangover. However, their former frontman was fully aware that they now faced a tougher test from the Grecians.

“Both teams are in a bit of form so this should be a cracking game,” Crawford told Yellow Sport.

“Colchester are creating plenty of chances and taking them – we need more of the same, particularly against a team who are up there with us.

“The games against Carlisle and Orient needed to be treated accordingly. They were matches we believed Colchester could win. I think the manner in which we did it has sent out a message too.”

Crawford added: “Three points against Exeter City will set us up for the second half of the season. Often in the past, Colchester have faltered at this stage. The time is right for this team to fulfil its potential and push for a top-three place during the second half of the season.”
