Ray Crawford: Red-hot Rovers too strong for U’s?

Forest Green Rovers v Colchester United – Sky Bet League Two – The New Lawn – Tuesday (7:45pm) – Preview

The omens certainly don’t look good for Colchester United!

Hovering just one place above the Sky Bet League Two relegation zone, the U’s head to runaway leaders, Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday evening, their supporters heading west, perhaps more in hope than expectation.

Former frontman, Ray Crawford echoed those thoughts: “I really can’t see Colchester coming home with anything,” he told Yellow Sport.

“They are flying at the moment. Seven points clear at the top of the table, only two defeats all season and top scorers in the division. I can’t see us putting a spanner in the works.

“We’ve bolstered the squad with the signings of defender, Tom Dallison from Crawley Town, and striker Corrie Andrews on loan from AFC Wimbledon. I know Corrie has done well on loan at Aldershot Town, but he needs to hit the ground running at Colchester. We’ve scored fewer goals than anyone else in the division. The boy is under pressure.”

Crawford added: “Some people will argue that we have two or three games in hand, but that doesn’t mean anything if you can’t convert them into points.

“The bottom two teams are now within touching distance of us which is extremely worrying. I said before, the club doesn’t appear to have learned any lessons. Eventually, your luck runs out.

“As I said, I don’t see anything over than a resounding Forest Green victory on Tuesday evening, leaving us with a massive six-pointer to come against Barrow at the weekend.

“I can see that the supporters are not happy. I’m not happy. I just hope someone at Colchester United can hear us and will do something about it.”

Ray Crawford’s prediction: Forest Green Rovers 3-0 Colchester United
