Ray calls for U’s to make it two out of two

Colchester United v Harrogate Town – Sky Bet League Two – JobServe Community Stadium – Saturday 3pm – Preview

Ray Crawford is delighted to see Colchester United return to winning ways and has called for another hard-working performance when newly-promoted Harrogate Town at the visitors to the JobSever Community Stadium on Saturday.

The U’s edged out previously unbeaten Forest Green Rovers thanks to an early Noah Chilvers header. It was a hard-working performance from the home side, who were forced to concede plenty of possession against the Gloucestershire outfit.

“We’ve had to battle hard and stay strong defensively to hang on to that lead,” Crawford told Yellow Sport.

“I’d previously mentioned my concern over conceding three in each of the games against Oldham and Carlisle. It was good to see us back to our best back there. Forest Green will count themselves unlucky, but credit to Dean Gerken and the defence – that was a solid display.”

The U’s now face a Harrogate side that has adapted well to life in Sky Bet League Two and remain amongst the frontrunners following Tuesday’s 2-1 win at Grimsby Town.

“This will be a similar contest for Colchester against a side playing with confidence, no fear and a bit of zest.

“They are on a decent run at the moment – full credit to them – but Colchester has to take advantage of another home game and close the gap on the play-off places.

“I think it will be another close contest. If we can get the first goal then I see a similar scenario, particularly if we can remain organised. But our back four are as good as anyone in the division on their day. And as I’ve said before, we have goalscorers in the team.

“I believe Colchester’s experience over Harrogate’s exuberance will see us through – Just!”

Ray Crawford’s prediction: Colchester United 1-0 Harrogate Town
Jeevesie’s prediction: Colchester United 2-1 Harrogate Town
