Rayleigh man arrested after reports of gun threat

A man has been arrested following an incident in Rayleigh this morning.

Police were called to London Hill shortly before 10.30am to reports of a man having been assaulted and threatened with what was described as a handgun.

Officers were deployed to London Road, Rayleigh, at about 11.50am where they engaged with a man inside a vehicle.

A short time later, a 29-year-old man from Rayleigh was arrested. During a search of the vehicle, officers located what is believed to be a BB gun, which has been made safe.

The man was taken into custody being questioned on suspicion of a number of offences including possession of a firearm, threats to kill, possession of a Class A drug, possession of Class B drug and possession of a bladed article.
