Resolute U’s hold Tranmere

Tranmere Rovers 0-0 Colchester United

Colchester United’s solid finish to an otherwise frustrating Sky Bet League Two season continued as they played out a goalless encounter with Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park.

The result ensured the home side a play-off place, while the U’s have to be content with twentieth position, despite their recent revival.

Otis Khan, Paul Lewis and Corey Blackett-Taylor had chances for the home side during the opening period, while Rovers stopper, Joe Murphy saved from Michael Folivi and Noah Chilvers as Colchester created the better opportunities.

Chilvers again went close late on, but the U’s end the campaign with just two defeats since Hayden Mullins took charge, offering fresh optimism ahead of next season.
