THEO ROBINSON’S future remains unclear, although John McGreal is keen to keep the frontman at Colchester United.
Robinson has netted seven times for the U’s since arriving on loan from Essex rivals, Southend United, back in late August. And McGreal insisted it is now down to the respective chairmen to decide the players’ whereabouts for the foreseeable future.
“I had a meeting the other day with the Chairman and Tony Humes,” McGreal explained following the U’s draw at Stevenage.
“Robbie (Cowling) is in conversation with the Southend Chairman. Again, I’ll have a conversation with Robbie after the game, which I always do – just to see where we are with that.”
Robinson appeared as a second-half substitute at the Lamex Stadium and received a warm reception from the sizable Colchester follow. Nevertheless, McGreal confirmed the ball is largely in Southend’s court as to whether he will make his move to north Essex permanent.
“He’s not our player – the big thing is, we haven’t got any rights to sign this player.
“The position Southend have been in – the way Theo has performed of late, as well – he’s one we’d love to keep hold of – that is what the conversations will be. As I say, it will be between the two chairmen.”
