The West End smash hit Be Bop A Lula arrives at the Towngate Theatre, Basildon, on Friday March 13.

In 1960, American rockers Eddie Cochran and Gene Vincent flew in and were joined by British heartthrob Billy Fury for the UK’s first multi-artist rock n roll package tour.

Reviewers were appalled by the on-stage antics, audiences screamed their approval and British youth culture was born.

It was a tour destined to end in tragedy on a B-road just outside Cheltenham when the car Cochran and Vincent were travelling in crashed, killing Eddie and leaving Vincent seriously injured.

This tribute to some of rock n roll’s greats relives the raw excitement of those artists, along with Buddy Holly.

The show features classic such as C’mon Everybody, Summertime Blues, Peggy Sue, Halfway to Paradise, Be Bop A Lula and many more.
