Ronaldo’s treble troubles Tottenham

Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur – Premier League – Old Trafford – Report

Manchester United 3-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Cristiano Ronaldo destroyed Spurs with a superb hat-trick as Manchester United won this contest of the top-four wannabes at Old Trafford by the odd goal in five.

The legendary Portuguese frontman took his career tally to 807 and claimed his first match ball in United colours for fourteen years. Ronaldo opened the scoring after Fred had teed him up. And although Harry Kane levelled from the penalty spot after Alex Telles had handled, Ronaldo profited from Jadon Sancho’s toil to re-establish United’s lead three minutes later.

Spurs appeared to have salvaged a share of the spoils when Harry Maguire turned into his own goal. But Ronaldo had the last laugh, heading home a Telles centre nine minutes from time.

Tottenham continues to tread water in seventh place. They return to Premier League action on Wednesday, March 16 when they face Brighton & Hove Albion at the AMEX Stadium (7:30pm).
