England 4-0 Bulgaria – Reaction
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR defender, Danny Rose, was satisfied with England’s performance and subsequent third Euro 2020 Group ‘A’ success as they hone in on a place in next summers finals.
Rose earned his 29th cap as Bulgaria were thrashed by four unanswered goals at Wembley: “It was very good, very professional,” the 29-year-old enthused.
“We knew it would be a little bit frustrating in the first half. The manager just said at half-time that the goals will come, and eventually, they did. It was a very good, professional performance.”
Tottenham teammate, Harry Kane, once again took the plaudits with a hat-trick and Rose was in no doubt as to the marksman’s importance to the side: “Yes, you know his record at club and country levels is right up there. We are thankful that we’ve got him up top and I’m lucky to be able to play with him at club level as well.
Kane bagged two of his goals from the penalty spot and Rose insisted he was the only man for the job in these pressure-cooker situations: “Oh no, his record is phenomenal. He literally practices his penalties every day in training. You can see that from his record.”
When asked if he believed England could complete their qualifying campaign without defeat, Rose added: “That is obviously the plan. The manager has warned us but Kosovo at the beginning of the week – they mentioned that they’ve got the best record in Europe over the past couple of years. It is not a team we can take lightly.
“We saw that they won earlier. That is the next step for us. He’s going to make sure that we prepare right. He’ll make sure to put the right team out to do the job on Tuesday.”
