Rovers look to close the gap

Heybridge Swifts v Great Wakering Rovers – Pitching In Isthmian League North – Aspen Waite Arena – Saturday (3pm) – Preview

Great Wakering Rovers will be looking to build on their superb midweek victory over promotion-chasing Grays Athletic when they make the short trip to Heybridge Swifts.

Glenn Robson’s relegation-haunted men made significant ground on those above them when Charlie Morris struck home a sweet volley from eighteen yards after Billy Johnson’s cross had only been half-cleared by the Grays backline.

That result left the villagers just three points from safety having provided themselves with a huge confidence booster.

Hosts, Heybridge are amongst the group of teams just above the Rovers. They were beaten 3-1 at home by Grays in their last league outing – Jack Adlington-Pile on target for the mid-Essex outfit.
