Rovers part company with boss Butterworth

Pitching In Isthmian League North strugglers, Great Wakering Rovers have announced the departure of manager, Steve Butterworth with immediate effect.

Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Stowmarket Town was the Rovers seventh league defeat of the season, leaving them next to bottom in the table.

Rovers have displayed contrasting form in the cup competitions, reaching the second qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup as well as the third qualifying round stage of the FA Trophy, where they face Walton Casuals this coming weekend.

A statement posted by the Burrough Park club explained;

We are sorry to announce the departure of Stephen Butterworth from his role as Great Wakering Manager with immediate effect.

The club will be looking to go in a different direction and will now be starting the process of appointing a replacement as soon as possible.
