Great Wakering Rovers stunned Pitching In Isthmian League North title-chasing Grays Athletic on a dramatic night at Burroughs Park.
Glenn Robson’s men snatched the lead on the half-hour mark when Charlie Morris struck home a sweet volley from eighteen yards after Billy Johnson’s cross had only been half-cleared.
Grays had their moments but came up against a resolute Rovers, keen to earn only their second league victory of the campaign.
The victory moves that Rovers five points clear of bottom-placed Hullbridge Sports. They return to Pitching In Isthmian League North action on Saturday, November 6 when they visit Heybridge Swifts (3pm).
