Great Wakering Rovers v Hashtag United – Pitching In Isthmian League North – Burroughs Park – Report
Great Wakering Rovers 3-4 Hashtag United
Great Wakering Rovers remain in a Pitching In Isthmian League North relegation dogfight after Hashtag United staged a remarkable recovery to take the points on a dramatic afternoon at Burroughs Park.
Rovers went into the game looking for a fourth victory in five league outings. And the villagers looked well on their way at the halfway mark. Thomas Anderson handed the home side a 37th-minute lead and although Eli Benoit swiftly restored parity, two quick goals from Martin Tuohy and Ben Brookes saw the home side firmly in control at the break.
But Hashtag produced a comeback of ‘Roy of the Rovers’ proportions after the restart. Toby Aromolaran reduced the arrears shortly before the hour. Then Jesse Waller-Lassen levelled the contest from the penalty spot as the drama continued to unfold.
Luke Hirst won it for the visitors in the final minute. Rovers remain in seventeenth place, while Hashtag are six places better off in eleventh.
