Millwall 1-1 Swansea City – Reaction
It was a frustrated Gary Rowett who faced the media after Millwall’s third-successive Sky Bet Championship match without a victory.
The Lion’s led against play-off rivals, Swansea City, thanks to Mason Bennett’s opener midway through the opening period. However, lacking a cutting edge, and most importantly, the backing of their fervent fans, Millwall failed to capitalise and had to be content with a spare of the spoil after Rhian Brewster’s dead-ball effort cannoned in of goalkeeper, Bartosz Bialkowski, via an upright.
“We need our fans here,” Rowett bemoaned.
“They give us that twenty-minutes of pressure which other teams struggle to cope with.
“Our fans give us a lift. I know other teams do the same, but we’re a unique club in that sense.”
Despite remaining five points outside the top six, Rowett remained bullish over the season and what could still be achieved, adding: “At the moment my thought process is we are tinged with still trying to get something out of this season and also learning some things for next season.
“That will be a real challenge because we want both.”
