Rugby Preview…

Regional 1 South East
Westcliff v Bedford Athletic – The Gables (3pm)

Bottom-of-the-table Westcliff will be looking to bounce back when seventh-placed Bedford Athletic visit The Gables on Saturday.

Westcliff were beaten 33-22 by Rochford last time out, frustratingly their third defeat in as many matches. Last week’s derby saw Westcliff score three tries to their opponents’ five, and with the scoreline at 22-26, as the match moved into its last seconds, a further try would have seen Westcliff register a five-point bonus win. Instead, Rochford scored a last-gasp try through their powerful pack, leaving the home side with nothing, such is the cruelty of league rugby.

Rochford Hundred v Hertford – Magnolia Road (2:30pm)
Rochford will be looking to push on following their exciting derby victory over Westcliff at The Gables.

Speaking to Yellow Sport, Rochord Head Coach, Danny Cleare, said: “Really happy after taking maximum points away at Westcliff on Saturday and making big improvements on the disappointing performance against Tring the week before.

“Hertford will pose a different challenge but one we are looking forward to”

Struggling Hertford are the visitors to Magnolia Road. The home side currently occupies third place in the table having won two of their opening three matches.

Regional 2 Anglia of London & SE
Saffron Walden v Southend Saxons – Springate (3pm)

Southend Saxons head to Saffron Waldon with a spring in their step having fought back to see off Thurrock last Saturday.

The Saxons trailed 12-3 but hit back to record a resounding 35-12 triumph, lifting them into third place after three matches.
