Runner groped in Writtle

Police are appealing for information after a woman in her 20s reported she was touched inappropriately whilst out running in Writtle.

The victim was approached from behind by a man riding a dark-coloured mountain bike whilst on the footpath at the back of Writtle College, between Lordship Road and Lawford Lane sometime between 7pm and 7.20pm on Wednesday June 24.

He grabbed her inappropriately over her clothes before cycling off.

The cyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, has been described as being white, aged between 25 and 30, around 6ft tall and skinny.

He had short hair and stubble. He wore a short-sleeved shirt and long shorts.

Anyone who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed the incident, or who recognises the description of the man is asked to make a report to Chelmsford’s Local Policing Team.
