Salmon quits as Bees boss

Pitching In Isthmian League North outfit, Basildon United, have confirmed that Alex Salmon has resigned as first-team manager.

Salmon linked up with the Bees from Burnham Ramblers, incredibly becoming the clubs’ fifth manager during the course of the last campaign. He successfully guided his charges away from the relegation zone after they have propped up the table on his arrival.

The outgoing chief took to social media to thank the players and supporters for their efforts but insisted that his reasons for leaving Gardiners Close will remain private. Posting on Twitter, salmon added: “I am absolutely fine, I’m excited to see what the future may bring.”

The Bees were beaten 2-0 at Stansted in the Emirates FA Cup at the weekend and are due to begin their league programme on Saturday, with Bury Town the visitors.
