Southend Saxons v Amersham & Chiltern – Warners Bridge – London One North – Saturday 3pm
Postponements, inclement weather and indifferent form has hampered Southend Saxons’ progress since the festive period. However, Director of Rugby, Josh Ward, insisted his side are ready to run their fortunes around when Amersham & Chiltern visit Warners Bridge for an eagerly anticipated London One North clash on Saturday.
“We’re just itching to get out there,” Ward told Yellow Sport.
“It’s been a hugely turbulent six weeks. We’ve not hit our straps nor had an opportunity to build any momentum. I’m hoping Saturday is the start of a positive business end to the campaign.
“We’ve got a superb group of staff and players alike – tight-knit – that care about each other. Nobody is happy with our current situation and that’s a good thing, we’re focused on being better.
“When you represent a club of Southend’s stature you are constantly under pressure, we know that’s the challenge, it’s something to be embraced by everyone.”
The Saxons face an Amersham & Chiltern side three placed below them in the table. Scrum-half, Harry Branch, echoed those thoughts ahead of the game, adding: “Everyone’s on point ready for this weekend. We’ve had a few games cancelled by the rain recently.
“We are all Looking forward to getting back out there and enjoying our rugby in front of a home crowd.
“The group is in a good place at the moment, training has been intense and we’re ready to put in a huge performance.”
