Scopes’ Beach Boys are ‘Up for the Cup’

Concord Rangers v Chippenham Town – Emirates FA Cup fourth qualifying round – Aspect Arena – Saturday 3pm – Preview

Danny Scopes knows his Concord Rangers side will need to be at their best if they are to overcome fellow Vanarama National League South outfit, Chippenham Town, and progress through to the first round proper stage of the Emirates FA Cup.

The Beach Boys boss admitted he’s been impressed by the Wiltshire side ahead of the Aspect Arena clash.

“They finished last season strongly and have taken that momentum into this season after the long break,” he told Yellow Sport.

“Chippenham recruited impressively ahead of the new season. We will need to be at the top of our game if we are to progress – We are fully aware of the challenge ahead of us.”

Scopes admitted he has taken inspiration from Danny Cowley’s Concord side from the 2014/15 season.

“It would be very special for me personally to lead the team into the first-round proper stage,” he added.

“Danny and Nicky put this club firmly on the map. I remember watching the two ties with Mansfield Town as a supporter. To give the club, the fans that opportunity again would be fantastic. Although we might have to make do with watching via the stream if supporters still aren’t allowed into the stadiums.”
