It was a relieved Danny Scopes who spoke to Yellow Sport after his Concord Rangers side had grabbed a dramatic last-gasp winner against Bath City at the Aspect Arena to end their recent winless sequence and send the Beach Boys four placed up the Vanarama National League South table.

With the score standing at 2-2, deep into stoppage-time, Ryan Charles headed home to earn Concord the three points and send the returning fans delirious with delight as their side clawed their way clear of the dropzone.

“We needed it and now have something to build on,” Scopes explained.

“But now it is up to us to build on the win over Bath and get some consistency in our performances, both individually and as a team.

The Beach Boys now welcome play-off contenders, Eastbourne Borough to Canvey. The visitors keen to bounce back having slipped to defeat at Dulwich Hamlet on Tuesday evening.

“They are a very good side and have made a good start to the season,” Scopes added.

“They have been competitive in every game and have collected some positive results.

“We know what is required and will give every effort to get something from the game and improve our standing in the league.”
