Scopes excited for the challenge ahead

Concord Rangers v St Albans City – Vanarama National League South – Aspect Arena – Saturday 3pm – Preview

There’s plenty to look forward to if you’re a Concord Rangers supporter just now.

Of course, first and foremost and along with every other diehard in the country, the Aspect Arena faithful can’t wait to be back on the terraces, backing their favourites.

But with a talented group of players and, of course, the small matter of a Buildbase FA Trophy final appearance at Wembley Stadium, the popular Canvey-based outfit are sending out plenty of positive vibes ahead of a time when the crowds return.

But hovering immediately over the horizon is a tough Vanarama National League South opener with St Albans City – a team themselves looking to build on Tuesday evening’s single goal success over Hampton & Richmond Borough.

Beach Boys boss, Danny Scopes, was pragmatic with his thoughts ahead of the clash but confident in the squad he has assembled ahead of their eighth campaign at this level.

“As normal, there’s no pressure on us as all. All we ask is that the players give everything they got when playing for the club and that works for me,” Scopes told Yellow Sport.

“We have a great mixture of experience and youth within the squad. I’m looking forward to seeing how we get it together and build on what was a positive last season.

Scopes added: “The first league game offers exciting challenges as well as ones we’d rather not face, namely the current restrictions on fans.

“But we will be doing whatever we can to ensure the club is in a healthy league position on there return, so we can be as one for the journey ahead.”
