Scopes focused on Hemel test

Hemel Hempstead Town v Concord Rangers – Vanarama National League South – Vauxhall Road – Saturday 3pm – Preview

Having seen his sides’ three-match unbeaten sequence concluded at Ebbsfleet United, Concord Rangers boss, Danny Scopes wasted little time moving the focus on to Saturday’s Vanarama National League South trip to Hemel Hempstead Town.

A victory at Vauxhall Road would see the Beach Boys move level on points with their thirteenth-placed hosts.

Despite taking a first-minute lead at Stonebridge Road, Concord when down by the odd goal in three across the river: “It was a tough game against a full-time Ebbsfleet side,” Scopes told Yellow Sport.

“But I believe we have learned from the experience and can take plenty on board going forward.

“We now face a Hemel side that has suffered back-to-back defeats. Our group will work on what we do well and take it forward. The aim is always to pick up some points.”

With COVID having delayed the start of the season and again hold question marks over whether the non-league game could be suspended, Scopes added: “None of us knows what is around the corner with football right now.

“But we must focus on the information we have. There are 27 league matches left, which is a large chunk of the season. We must get as many points on the board as possible and be prepared for any eventuality.”
