Scopes to run the rule over his squad

Heybridge Swifts v Concord Rangers – Saturday 3pm – Preview

Danny Scopes will get another opportunity to run the rule over his Concord Rangers fringe players when they take on Isthmian League North outfit, Heybridge Swifts, in behind closed doors friendly match at Scraley Road.

The Beach Boys chief has been busy throughout the lockdown period, shaping his squad ahead of the new Vanarama National League South campaign, with several new signings arriving at the Aspect Arena.

However, last weekend, Scopes fielded a young, largely inexperienced squad in a warm-up fixture at Welling Town, with a similar group expected to feature again this time around against Stuart Nethercott’s side.

“Following on from last Saturday, the boys now have an opportunity to blow away the cobwebs with a one or two trialist getting a chance to show me what they can do,” Scopes told Yellow Sport.

“Once again, some of the under 18 squad will get a chance. It’s a good opportunity to get them involved and used to the way we prepare for first-team matches.

“I’m sure it will be a really positive exercise and will set us up for when we fully return on August 15.”
