POLICE looking for a missing Thurrock man have ‘suspended their search following the discovery of a man’s body’, a spokesman said.
Essex Police appealed on Monday for information on the whereabouts of 36-year-old Ross Smedmor, from Chadwell St Mary.
Mr Smedmor was reported missing on Sunday, September 8. On Monday, September 9, police found his car abandoned in Horndon-on-the-Hill and began searching the surrounding area.
Police have now confirmed that a man’s body has been found on land near North Hill, Horndon-on-the-Hill.
Mr Smedmor’s family has been informed, but formal identification has not yet taken place.
A spokesman said: “The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
