Second man charged after robbery at Lakeside Shopping Centre

Officers investigating a robbery at Lakeside Shopping Centre in Thurrock have secured charges against a second person.

At around 5pm on Sunday September 24, it was reported three males had been involved in an incident where a security worker was assaulted outside a shop,

A phone was also stolen from the store.

A first arrest was made on October 17. A 15-year-old boy, from Barking, was charged with theft, assault by beating and using threatening words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

He appeared at Southend Magistrates’ Court on October 19, where he denied each of the offences.

He faces a trial at the same court on March 5 2024.

On Thursday November 30 officers made a second arrest.

Avram Stoica, 18, of Pretoria Road, Romford, has since been charged with robbery, possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He appeared at Southend Magistrates’ Court on Friday December 1 and was remanded in custody until a further hearing at Basildon Crown Court on January 2.
