Essex Eagles missed out on a Royal London One Day Cup final berth after Glamorgan triumphed in their last-four clash at Sophia Gardens.

Alastair Cook hit 68, while Paul Walter contributed a half-century and starlet, Josh Rymell 44 as Essex posted 289 – Joe Cook taking 5/61 as Glamorgan kept the Eagles within sight.

Hamish Rutherford hit 67 off 44 balls before falling to Simon Harmer – Walter taking the catch – his opening wicket stand with Nick Selman 95.

Selman reached 59, while Joe Cook contributed an unbeaten 66 to see Glamorgan home with twelve balls to spare – Tom Westley’s 2/41 in vain for the visitors.

Essex now turn their attention back to the LV=Insurance County Championship, where they will face Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens on Monday, August 1 – Sept 2 (11am).
