Serious collision in Southend

Police are investigating a serious crash in Southend this morning (April 19).

Officers were called to Royal Artillery Way at around 7:40am following a collision involving four vehicles, including one car and three ride-on lawnmowers.

Emergency services including air ambulance were in attendance and two people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A 24-year-old man from Benfleet has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drink/drugs.

The road remains closed in both directions.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything or have any dashcam footage to contact them quoting incident number 187 of April 19.
