Serious collision in Westcliff

Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious collision in Westcliff today..

It was reported around 4.10pm this afternoon, Tuesday November 8, that a minibus had collided with a pedestrian on St Helens Road.

The pedestrian, a man in his 80s, has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A man has been arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of causing injury by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs.

The road remains closed and police anticipate it will remain shut until later tonight.
