OLD SOUTHENDIAN RESERVES made short work of their Canning Town counterparts to ensure their safe ProKit UK Essex Olympian League Cup progress at Garon Park
The home side swept into a three-goal lead before the interval and added a further four after the break, with Greg Molford leading the way with an impressive hat-trick.
David Stubbs bagged a brace, while Ben Franklin and Tom Margerison were also amongst the goals. Manager, Ben Manley, expressed the importance of the competition to his charges.
“We won this competition two seasons ago and want to have another good crack at it this time – ” he told Yellow Sport.
We wanted to set a marker down ahead of some big games over the next few weeks. Canning Town area coupe of divisions below us, but we knew they wouldn’t throw the towel in. However, our quality was clear to see throughout.
Manley was delighted with his sides attacking prowess, adding: “It was great to see the front three all get on the scoresheet – ‘Mols’ gets the man of the match award for some tremendous finishing.
“We scored some great team goals and to come away with a clean sheet rounded the performance nicely.”
