Brentwood Borough Council has been running its Sports Awards to recognize the stars in Brentwood who have made an impact in their chosen sports, and to acknowledge those who make sport in the borough possible, since 2010.
The awards recognize outstanding achievers, volunteers and workers in sport within the community.
Chair of Communuity & Health, Cllr Cliff Poppy, said; “These awards have always gone down well in Brentwood where we are lucky enough to have a wide range of venues to host a variety of sports.
“The Brentwood Centre, our country parks, bowls clubs, cricket and football clubs and our outdoor gym at Warley all encourage people to get fit and in some cases follow their dreams to get to the top of their chosen sport.
“The aim is to celebrate not just those who dedicate themselves to performing their chosen activity but to also celebrate the many residents and volunteers who give their time freely to ensure that every generation has the opportunity to enjoy a sport and develop that skill.
“There are 10 categories in the nominations and I sincerely hope that everyone will spread the word and put forward the people who make a real difference to sport in Brentwood.”
