Half-centuries from Oliver Smith, Sam Handley and Luke Smith went some way towards Hadleigh & Thundersley’s comfortable Cook Division victory over Westcliff On Sea at John Burrows Recreation Ground.
Smith led the way with 72 off 65 balls – Richard Harding also chipped in, scoring 40 as the home side posted a sizable 291/8 – Gurpreet Singh the pick of the Westcliff attack with 3/28.
Westcliff’s response never really took flight as the league leaders continued their perfect start to the season. The visitors found themselves reduced to 56/5 and despite Alexander Portugal’s 43, those around him fell cheaply as they slipped to their first defeat of the season.
Adam Dobson took 3/42 for eth winners, while David Williams, Handley and Smith finished with two apiece for the hosts.
