Slick Ramblers show Old Boys their cutting edge

Old Southendian 0-2 Leigh Ramblers

Harry Haysom’s brace proved to be decisive as in-form Leigh Ramblers impressively picked up their third-successive ProKit UK Essex Olympian League Premier Division success on the road at Garon Park.

Hayson struck either side of the interval to sink host’s Old Southendian in what was otherwise a well-contested derby.

Old Boys boss, Connor Lane was philosophical over the setback: “I thought we started the game well, but they defended well then hit us before half-time,” he told Yellow Sport.

“After the restart, we struggled to get any headway as the Ramblers dominated. Of course, the second goal killed us.

“It was a great game for a neutral to watch. A local derby we wanted to win but we must dust ourselves off and prepare for our next away fixture against Harold Wood.”
