Barnet v Dagenham & Redbridge – The Hive – Vanarama National League – Saturday 3pm

Barnet v Dagenham & Redbridge – Preview:

Daryl McMahon was satisfied with his side’s performance, if not the result, after witnessing Dagenham & Redbridge’s Buildbase FA Trophy exit at much-fancied Notts County.

Taking full charge of the east Londoners for the first time, McMahon’s side looked set for a replay at Victoria Road after Mitch Brundle netted for the Daggers, cancelling out Kristian Dennis’s opener for the Magpies.

However, an incredible last-gasp Michael Doyle strike from near the halfway line won it for Notts, despite a much-improved improved display from the visitors.

“I thought we were excellent, particularly the second half,” McMahon told www.daggers.co.uk.

“We changed shape in the second half. We dominated the ball for large spells – we had numerous chances that we didn’t take – but the overall performance was really good.”

A much-changed Dagenham side faced Barking in the BBC Essex Senior Cup during the week. However, McMahon will revert to an altogether more familiar line-up to face local rivals, Barnet, at the Hive on Saturday.

Whereas the Daggers are without a win in nine Vanarama National League matches – leaving them precariously placed just above the dropzone – the B’s are unbeaten in six, although three successive draws have hindered their push towards the play-off places. The North Londoners currently occupy eleventh place in the table, five points shy of the top-seven.
