Sniffer dog reveals suspected drugs find in Canvey car search

Police have seized a quantity of suspected Class A drugs after officers stopped a car in Canvey.

Officers were on patrol in Canvey Way shortly before 10.30pm on Thursday July 29 when they stopped a Ford Fusion car.

After a search was authorised, a drugs dog was deployed and indicated to the car’s handbrake.

During a further search of the car, officers found a quantity of suspected Class A drugs tied around the handbrake lever.

It is now being forensically examined.

A 41-year-old man from Canvey was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, possession of a Class B drug and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place.

He has been released under investigation.
