Bromley v Dagenham & Redbridge – Hayes Lane – Vanarama National League – Saturday 3pm
Bromley v Dagenham & Redbridge – Preview:
Dagenham & Redbridge ended a run of five successive Vanarama National League defeats but were still left slightly frustrated as bottom of the table Ebbsfleet United left Victoria Road with a share of the spoils on Boxing Day.
Alex Reid gave the Kent side the lead midway through the second half. However, Chike Kandi netted late on to ensure Peter Taylor’s men a point.
However, former interim England boss, Taylor, thought his side deserved far more from the contest: “No, I thought we were the better team,” he told www.daggers.co.uk.
“I thought it was only going to be us that would score in the first half. At half time, I thought we would go on to win the match.
“Second half, I still felt it was going to be us that was going to score – we just couldn’t get that final bit right, which was disappointing and very, very frustrating because I thought we created some really, really good chances up until the final third. It was that last bit where we let ourselves down.”
The Daggers now head to third-placed Bromley – themselves currently enduring a difficult spell. The Hayes Lane outfit were beaten 3-0 at Dover Athletic last time out – their second successive defeat.
“We are now going to go to a team that is really up there,” Taylor added.
“We’ve got to make sure that we perform well. Hopefully, nobody is feeling too much from today’s game (Ebbsfleet) – hopefully, we can select from all of the players that were available today.
“We need to regroup and get ourselves an away win.”
