The Masters Premier took centre stage in the Southend and District Badminton Association with three matches taking place. The first of those was between Hawkwell and Phoenix Flames. Mandie Breed, Tracey Haylett, Tim Baskett and Peter Lewin all picked up hat-tricks for the visitors to secure a 6-0 win. Jamie Cole and Chris Gates came closest to getting a point for the Hawks as three of the six rubbers went to three games.
Hawkwell were able to bounce back in their next match though and picked up their first win in the Masters Premier since promotion with a 4-2 victory at Eastwood. Again, three of the rubbers went to three games in another tight match. This time though, Brenda Emptage won all three of her rubbers for the Hawks with Jamie Cole and Alan Morriss getting two wins each as well. Lorene Roberts secured a double for the home side.
Eastwood, like Hawkwell, bounced back from defeat to win in their next match as they beat Phoenix Flames Seconds 6-0 away from home. Lorene Roberts, Dawn Muggleton, John Kindred and Gary Webb made up the winning team for the visitors with John and Gary not dropping a game. Sara Thompson and Vikki Walker came closest for the Flames.
In the Men’s First division, B & BP moved to the top of the table with an 8-1 win over Westcliff Seconds. Nick Harbott and Paul Hyde picked up a perfect three rubbers for the away side with Adam Cooper and Daniel Potter also winning all three of their matches. Adam Stevens and Josh Everett got a brace. Mike Weingarten and Phil Crabtree got the point for Westcliff who drop to second.
Phoenix Flames Seconds continued their impeccable start to the season with another big win, 8-1 against the Phoenix Flames Thirds team. Ben Bradford and Carly Horsler and Russell Dobson and Vikki Walker both sealed hat-tricks for the Seconds with the former not dropping a game. Rob Dunn and Tracey Carey won two of their rubbers. Danny Peach and Kana Hazlewood won the single point for the Thirds.
Finally, Westcliff Seconds moved up to second in the Ladies First division with a 4-2 win over B & BP. Barbara Childs secured a hat-trick for the home side with Sandy Woolacott and Vicki Russell winning the other rubber to clinch victory overall. Emma Potter helped the visitors to their two points.
