There were four matches across the two Ladies divisions this week with both of the Premier ties involving Westcliff. Their first match was a comfortable 5-1 home win over Chelmsford Casuals. Jade Timms and Nicola Waller both got three rubbers each for Westcliff while Lesley Pallett and Pam Lee picked up the point for the away side.
They followed this up with another 5-1 win, this time away at bottom side Phoenix Flames. Adrienne Munro and Andrea Lloyd both won three rubbers each to make it three wins from three for the season for Westcliff. Holly Sims and Carly Horsler got the point for Phoenix but they remain rooted to the foot of the table.
Eastwood Seconds moved up to fourth in the Ladies First division with a 4-2 win over third placed Fitzwimarc Seconds. Dawn Muggleton picked up a hat-trick for the home side with the other rubber from Laura Whiteman and Debbie Moon to get the win. Kay Bailey helped Fitz to their two points.
In the same division, Westcliff Seconds denied Fitzwimarc a seventh straight victory to keep the title race going for a little longer. Chloe Baker won all three of her rubbers for Fitz but Andrea Lloyd and Vicki Russell both secured braces for the visitors. It was a very tight match with four of the six rubbers going to three games.
Fitzwimarc concluded the first half of the Mixed Premier season unbeaten with a 6-3 victory over Eastwood. Liz Gotts and Phill Tuffee, Angela McDaniel and Spencer Collins and Rebecca Terry and Alan Adkins all secured braces for the home side. Emma Harris and Matt Allum won three rubbers for Eastwood who stay in third.
Down in the Mixed Second division, Hawkwell moved up to second and kept alive their faint hopes of catching runaway leaders Phoenix Flames Seconds. They triumphed 5-4 over Fitzwimarc Thirds with Andrew Strutt and Sophie Pearson and Matt Smyth and Caroline Trace both winning two rubbers each. Mike Smyth and Farnaz Siddiq got the other for victory. Michael Kong and Jenny Chu and Peter Lewin and Donna Venables both got braces for Fitz who drop to third.
Westcliff Seconds made it four wins from five in the Men’s First division with a 6-3 win at Phoenix Flames. Mike Weingarten and Phil Crabtree got a hat-trick for Westcliff while Matt Tonge and David Clark secured a brace and John Hall and Russell Blunt won a single rubber. Ben Bradford and Danny Peach bagged two rubbers for the Flames with one rubber from Tim Baskett and Peter Lewin.
Finally, Westcliff and Eastwood Seconds shared the spoils in a 3-3 draw in the Masters First division. Barbara Childs and Phil Crabtree both got two rubbers each. Nicole Goodale and Martin Rainbow also secured braces for the away side as well.
