Southend and District Badminton Association league week 8

Phoenix Flames moved up to third in the Masters Premier with a 4-2 win away at Westcliff. Peter Lewin won all three of his rubbers for the visitors while Mandie Breed and Vikki Walker won the other to secure victory overall. Phil Crabtree helped Westcliff to their two points as they remain in fifth.

Elsewhere in the division, Fitzwimarc Seconds stayed in second in the league with a 5-1 triumph away at Phoenix Flames Seconds. Phill Tuffee and Tarun Goel starred for the away side as they both picked up hat-tricks. Sara Thompson and Jo Howard-Simpson grabbed the point for Flames second team as they remain in fourth spot in the table.

Fitzwimarc Seconds edged past B&BP in the Mixed Premier with a 5-4 win away from home. Chloe Baker and Freddie Kemble-Jones won all three of their rubbers on their Mixed Premier debuts and were backed up by a single rubber each from Sarah Hall and Ryan Pinnock and Kera Lewis and Oliver Smith. Dan and Emma Potter and Adam Cooper and Tamsin Collinge both secured braces for the home side as they just lost out overall.

In the division below, SLH Rayleigh made it two wins from two with an 8-1 home victory over Highlands. Andrew Strutt and Clare Burrell won a perfect three rubbers and were supported by a hat-trick from Gavin Lewis and Jan Watt and a double from Tom Negus and Caroline Fletcher. Tim Rainbow and Yasmin Cracknell got the point for the visitors.
