Phoenix Flames became the first league champions of the season after a 4-2 victory over Eastwood sealed the Ladies First division title. It was a tight match though with four of the six rubbers going to three games but a hat-trick from Carly Horsler and braces from Mandie Breed and Farnaz Siddiq guaranteed victory. Laura Whiteman helped Eastwood to their two points but couldn’t stop Phoenix from making it six wins out of six.

Eastwood did grab a win in their other Ladies First division match last week as they beat B & BP 5-1 away from home. Lorene Roberts and Debbie Moon both notched three rubbers each in the victory as they remain in second. Emma Potter and Tamsin Collinge helped the home side to their point as they stay bottom of the table.

In the Masters Premier, Phoenix Flames are on the brink of another title after two more wins last week to continue their unbeaten season. The first was a 6-0 victory over Hawkwell. Vikki Walker and Peter Lewin both won three perfect rubbers each with Tim Baskett and Mandie Breed also picking up hat-tricks. Jamie Cole and Caroline Trace came closest to getting a point for the Hawks.

They then followed this up with a 4-2 win over their seconds team. The same team of Vikki, Peter, Tim and Mandie all picked up two rubbers each to guarantee victory overall and one more win this season will secure the league title. Trudi Clark and Robert Dunn and Sara Thompson and John Marshall each one a rubber for the Seconds who move off the bottom.

Finally, in the Men’s First division, Phoenix Flames increased their lead at the top of the table with an 8-1 victory over Blenheim. Greg Roffey and Ben Bradford won three perfect rubbers and were supported by a hat-trick from Humaid Ghori and Danny Peach and a double from Alex Cheung and Jay Clark. Jon Beaven and Andy McMahon helped the visitors to their point as they remain bottom but with a game in hand on SLH Rayleigh.
