B & BP moved to within a point of clinching the Men’s First division title as they won back to back matches. The first was a 9-0 victory over Westcliff Seconds. Adam Cooper and Daniel Potter picked up a perfect three rubbers and were backed up by hat-tricks from Nick Harbott and Paul Hyde and Jordan Rogers and Paul Harvey. Matt Ayres and Russell Blunt came closest to getting a point for the visitors.
The second was an 8-1 win away at Phoenix Flames. Adam Cooper and Daniel Potter and Carl Skuce and Richard Smith both got hat-tricks and were backed up by a brace from Paul Hyde and James Pryke. Ben Bradford and Danny Peach got the single point for the Flames.
Phoenix Flames also faced Eastwood in the Men’s First division and fared much better, winning 8-1 away. Kesh Naidoo and Alex Cheung and Ben Bradford and Danny Peach both secured three rubbers without dropping a game. Terry Maylin and Peter Lewin won two rubbers to move them up to third. Gary Webb and John Kindred got the point for the home side who remain rock bottom and without a win all season.
In the Men’s Second division, SLH Rayleigh jumped from one off bottom to top with a 9-0 victory over Hawkwell Seconds. Adam Whiting and Ian Moorcroft, Tom Negus and Joe Garnett and Peter Hall and Mike Smith all won three rubbers each with the latter not dropping a game. Keith Wood and Ben Gates did best for the visitors.
Hawkwell’s first team did notch up a win in the same division as they beat Blenheim 7-2. Six of the nine rubbers went to three games though as Matt Smyth and Russell Dobson won all of their three rubbers for the Hawks. There was a double from Alan Morriss and Gavin Lewis and Mike Smyth and Jamie Cole to move them up to second. Chris Roberts and Brodie Beaven and Ron Lucas and Lee Bussey both won a rubber each for the visitors.
B & BP moved top of the Mixed First division with a 6-3 win away at Westcliff Seconds. Daniel and Emma Potter won all three of their rubbers for the away side with Paul and Wendy Hyde winning two and a single win for Adam Cooper and Tamsin Collinge. Matt Tonge and Andrea Lloyd bagged a brace and Rob Perry and Emma Anderson-Brown got a single rubber for Westcliff.
In the division below, Westcliff Thirds triumphed 8-1 over Phoenix Flames Thirds. Barbara Childs and Russell Blunt secured a perfect hat-trick and were supported by a hat-trick from Christina Scott and Matt Ayres with Holly Gillard and John Hall winning two. Westcliff moved up to third with victory. Kana Hazlewood and Danny Peach got the point for the Flames.
Westcliff went top of the Ladies Premier and made it five wins from five with a 6-0 victory against Eastwood. Nicola Waller, Adrienne Munro, Philippa Pearson and Jade Timms made up the winning team for Westcliff. Elsewhere in the division, Chelmsford Casuals beat bottom side Phoenix Flames. Emma Skingsley, Lesley Pallett, Pam Lee and Amanda Austin all won three perfect rubbers each.
In the Ladies First division, Eastwood Seconds moved into second with a 5-1 win against Fitzwimarc Seconds. Lorene Roberts and Dawn Muggleton both won three rubbers each for Eastwood. Kay Bailey and Chloe Baker helped Fitz to their point as three of the six rubbers went to three.
Finally, Fitzwimarc continued their perfect campaign with another 6-0 win, this time over Hawkwell. Pam Lee and Alan Adkins both got three perfect rubbers with Angela McDaniel and Paul Chaplin also winning all three. Caroline Trace and Jamie Cole came closest to a point for the Hawks.
