Local fishermen have once again contributed handsomely to the Southend Cancer Unit following their annual charity event, staged recently in Eastwood.
The enthusiastic anglers – competing in the Dianne Hoskyn Charity Carp Match – raised more than £900 for their chosen charity. Spokesperson, Paul Rashbrook, told Yellow Sport: “We observed safe social distancing to ensure the event went ahead safely.
“The weather conditions were difficult, with heavy rain falling. But we were determined to do our bit for something close to sour hearts.”
The competitive event was held over three nights between August and October. Richard Boyden was the overall winner, weighing in a haul of 81lbs, 8oz. Meanwhile, Mt Rashbrook landed the biggest single Carp – his catch, a huge 17lbs 2oz.
As in recent years, Korda JRC and the FMS Foils Group continued their support supplying sponsorship and prizes.
