Westcliff recorded just their second win in the Men’s Premier as they beat title challenging Riverside 6-3. Lee Scott and Mark King picked up a hat-trick for Westcliff with Lewis Barr and Robert Perry also winning all three too. Michael Dunn and Pinda Garcha, Tom Pennington and Tom Grafton and Andy Brown and Raff Pratheek-Badrinath all got a rubber each for the home side.
In the division below, B & BP made it five wins from five and remain top after a 5-4 victory against Phoenix Flames. Paul Hyde and Nick Harbott and Daniel Potter and Adam Cooper bagged braces and Tope Abulude and Paul Harvey got the other rubber to secure a win. Kesh Naidoo and Alex Cheung won a perfect three rubbers for the Flames with a rubber for Ben Bradford and Danny Peach as they remain one off bottom.
Blenheim secured their first win of the campaign in the Men’s Second division as they beat SLH Rayleigh 5-4. Andrew McMahon and Nish Tanna secured all three of their rubbers while Lee Bussey and Ron Lucas and Brodie Beavan and Chris Roberts picked up a single win each for victory overall. Tom Negus and Joe Garnett and Peter Hall and Ian Moorcroft both picked up doubles.
SLH Rayleigh also suffered a narrow 5-4 defeat to Fitzwimarc Thirds. They were only able to field two pairings giving Fitz a 3-0 lead to start and Adam Dixon-Peters and Craig Walsingham and Tarun Goel and Paul Levene won one each for victory. Peter Hall and Joe Garnett secured a perfect three rubbers for the visitors with Tom Negus and Ian Moorcroft also getting one.
There were three matches in the Mixed Second division including a double header between Highlands and Phoenix Flames Thirds. Highlands won the initial meeting 6-3 away from home. Tom Crosby and Marine Gare and Tim Rainbow and Hannah Crosby both picked up hat-tricks with the latter not dropping a game. Danny Peach and Kana Hazlewood, Alex Cheung and Kiv Walker-Gray and Jill Beaver and Dave Kitchens all won a rubber each.
The Flames though got revenge in the match at Highlands as they won 5-4. Chi Cheung and Holly Sims won a perfect three rubbers for Phoenix and were supported by a rubber from Dave Kitchens and Jill Beaver and Colin Campbell and Kana Hazlewood. Tom Crosby and Marina Gare and Tim Rainbow and Hannah Crosby each got two wins. Highlands move into third while Phoenix Thirds remain bottom.
The other match saw Westcliff Thirds edge 5-4 past Fitzwimarc Thirds. Barbara Childs and Mark King and Sandy Woolacott and Matt Ayres both won two rubbers each with Christina Scott and David Clark getting the other for victory. Donna Venables and Michael Kong secured a hat-trick for Fitz with a single win for Kay Bailey and Peter Smith.
Eastwood Seconds went second in the Ladies First division with a 6-0 win over Hawkwell. Laura Whiteman, Lorene Roberts, Debbie Moon and Dawn Muggleton made up the winning for Eastwood. Sophie Pearson and Sue Mills came closest to getting a point for the Hawks.
In the Masters Premier, Phoenix Flames Seconds kept their survival hopes alive with a 5-1 victory over Hawkwell. It was a very tight match as three rubbers went to three games but Sara Thompson and Rob Dunn both won all three rubbers for the home side. Brenda Emptage and Alan Morris helped the Hawks to their point as they are now just a point above Phoenix Seconds.
Finally, in the Masters First division, Fitzwimarc Seconds held up Westcliff’s march to the title as they drew 3-3. Jay Crewe won all three of his rubbers for Fitz. Sandy Woolacott, Barbara Childs and Phil Crabtree all got two wins for the away side.
