Southend man admits rape and sexual assault

A man has pleaded guilty to subjecting two women in Southend to serious sexual offences.

James Frost, 39, of Kursaal Way, Southend, pleaded guilty to one count of rape and assault by penetration and two counts of common assault on an emergency worker at Basildon Crown Court on Thursday June 10.

He has been remanded ahead of his sentence on Thursday August 13.

It follows an investigation by South Essex Adult Sexual Abuse Investigations Team (ASAIT).

The team investigated a report that a woman was raped at Frost’s address in Southend at around 2am on Friday March 27.

Three days later another woman reported she was sexually assaulted by Frost at around 1am on Monday March 30.

Officers visited his address that day and two officers reported they were assaulted while trying to restrain him.

Investigating officer PC Caroline Thrower said: “Frost has admitted serious sexual offences against two women in Southend following the evidence that we put forward to the court.

“We’ve continued to support both women who have bravely assisted us throughout our investigations and the case.”
