ESSEX SENIOR LEAGUE outfit, Southend Manor, have set up a gofundme page in a bid to raise £10,000 for essential repairs to their Southchurch Park ground clubhouse.
The damage became apparent over the winter, causing concern to that the 65-year-old club could struggle to acquire adequate ground grading to stage ESL football, as well as lose out on potential revenue provided through venue hire.
Erosion to the roof and floor forced the club to section off an area of the clubhouse with a quotation for the work reported to be in the region of £25,000.
Manor chairman, Jerry Omango, stated he will find half of the cost, ideally the rest coming via crowdfunding.
Media manager, Andy Wilkins, told Yellow Sport: “Without fixing the problems we have, we face more problems in regards to losing potential venue hire as well as our reputation, in general, as a venue hire facility in Southend-On-Sea.
“The clubhouse hasn’t had a facelift or any major fixing for several years. This will be a major issue Jerry intends to get sorted for the benefit of the community as well as the club.
“We want to provide a safe, comfortable environment for football enthusiasts who we welcome to our ground.”
