SOUTHEND SAXONS had reignited a historic link with SEEVIC College which Director of Rugby, Josh Ward, believes will be of great benefit to both parties.
The Storm Rugby Academy will forge links with the London One North outfit following a four-year hiatus and will now stage a number of their home fixtures at the Saxons’ Warners Bridge ground.
“We’re really pleased to of linked up with the Storm Rugby Academy at SEEVIC again,” Ward told Yellow Sport.
“We’ve seen some of our most exciting young club players experience the rugby programme at the college so I’m excited to see more local talent benefit from a first-class rugby product – not only at club level – but also whilst supporting their educational development.
Tom Ramsey, Jake Tottman and Tommy Justice are amongst the current Saxons crop to have progressed through the college programme.
I know Jack Daly – Rugby Development Officer for the Academy – incredibly well – he’s my daughters’ godfather, ” Ward added.
“As soon as he was appointed it was a conversation we naturally struck up. Hearing his plans and knowing his rugby expertise it’s a perfect opportunity to work together going forwards.
“Jack is open-minded and is already engaging with other local clubs. It’s a great time for rugby in East Essex.”
