Southend Specials raise over £500 in support of local charity.

On Sunday February 18, six volunteer police officers completed a 17-mile charity walk in support of St Vincent de Paul Society.

They walked between Southend and Benfleet to raise much needed funds for the voluntary organisation which provides practical help to anyone affected by poverty and disadvantage.

Special Inspector Samantha Wright, who took part in the walk, said: “We were challenged by muddy fields and heavy downpours, but the team kept in great spirits all the way around!

“It’s important to support this notable work and the charity based at St Vincent’s Centre, Southend-on-Sea, which is a busy community hub supporting vulnerable people in the community with foodbank services, hot meals, in and outreach support and household items and clothing.”
