TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR have completed the 18-month loan signing of exciting Portuguese midfielder, Gedson Fernandes from Benfica.
The 21-year-old arrives in North London as Jose Mourinho’s first capture. Fernandes – who was reportedly also on West Ham United’s radar – made 53 appearances for Benfica, helping them to their league title during the last campaign.
Tottenham have an option to make the deal permanent at the conclusion of the current deal.
Speaking to www.tottenhamhotspur.com, Fernandes enthused: “I’m very happy to be here today – I make my dream a reality.
“For me, it’s one big dream to come to this big Club. I will try to give my best for the Club every day, in every training session and in every game and I will try to help the team wherever I can, working hard every day for this shirt.”
Fernandes could be involved when Spurs head to Vicarage Road to face Watford in the Premier League on Saturday (12:30pm).
