Spurs make Carabao Cup progress as O’s are forced to forfeit

Tottenham Hotspur will take on Chelsea at the fourth-round stage of the Carabao Cup after it was confirmed the Lilywhite had been awarded their postponed tie with Leyton Orient, scheduled earlier this week.

The O’s were forced to call off the game after a number of their squad returned positive COVID test results following their Sky Bet League Two fixture with Mansfield Town last weekend.

With the Orient squad in self-isolation, the match, along with Saturday’s League Two clash at Walsall, was called off, with the EFL Board confirming that in line with Carabao Cup Rule 5.1 the East Londoners must forfeit the tie.

Spurs will now face the West Londoners at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday, September 29 (7:45pm).
