In a hard-fought FA Cup Preliminary Round 2 match, Billericay secured their first competitive win since last year after coming from a goal behind.

Lawrie Wilson was harshly adjudged to have bought down Braintree Town Striker Femi Akinwande in the box in the 16th-minute – the ex-Billericay man fired low past Vose, into the keeper’s bottom right-hand corner. Braintree ahead, the goal against the run of play.

Nine minutes before the break, Billericay Town deservedly equalised through Darren Foxley – who was also denied later in the half by a superb Preston Edwards save, preventing Billericay from taking the lead.

The Blues continued to impress after the restart, creating plenty of chances. Felix passed several good opportunities. However, it was the young right wing-back, George Wind, who grabbed the limelight in the 86th-minute, smashing the ball high into the net to send the visitors through.
