Chelmsford skipper, Jack Sterland hit 75, while James Clifford took four wickets as Chelmsford recorded a Dukes Essex League Cup second-round victory over local rivals, Billericay at Blunts Wall Road.

Clifford’s 4/40 went some way towards Chelmsford dismissing the hosts for just 130. David Houghton top-scored with 41, but with those around him succumbing cheaply, Billericay were always facing an uphill task.

And so it proved. Sterland’s 75 came off 91 balls and included ten 4s and one 6 – Chelmsford reaching their target off the second ball of the thirty-first over.
